USB Snowman Robot

What says Happy Holidays better than a flashing robot snowman? Well probably a lot of things, but that doesn't take away from this cool little guy. Powered by a USB connection, this frosty bot flashes a red or blue scanning light from it's eyes. You can control the speed of the flash, the color, and switch sound effects on and off.

Would make a great desk toy for Christmas (or a very belated X-Mas gift since I'm posting these a whopping 2 days before the holiday).

The Disappearing Car Door

Well here's an idea, a car door that you don't open and close, but with a press of a button goes UNDERNEATH your car. The makers claim it's extremely convenient for tight parking spaces and for the times when an open door could cause problems. But really, their main selling point is just how cool and innovative the idea is.

Sadly this is still in the concept stages but may one day be available as an extra feature for autos. Here is a video demonstration of the door in action:

Blackbird Rider - Carbon Fiber Guitar!

Blackbird Guitars has introduced it's newest guitar, the Blackbird Rider. A hollow neck, small bodied acoustic guitar that is lightweight, small, and easily portable. In fact it's 30% smaller than a traditional acoustic guitar but without any sound loss. What's so special about the Blackbird Rider you ask?

It's made from carbon fibers.

Carbon fiber is an incredibly strong material used in a variety of industrial applications, and is being used more and more for high stress construction tasks. The company has this to say about the model, "You can play in a tropical rain storm and Rider will be fine. It can withstand a fall on a concrete floor without breaking (not recommended of course). The finish is much more durable and scratch resistant than a standard guitar".

Aside from it's ability to take a beating, the Blackbird Rider's construction has the significant advantage of turning the entire guitar into the sound box, dramatically increasing the acoustic quality.

All that and the price isn't too bad (at least when compared to other high end guitars). A Rider will set you back about $1600.

Make Your Own Neon Sign

Custom neon signs are not only expensive to make, they also have the disadvantage that once part of them breaks, your sign is dead. This new product offers a solution to both of those problems.

These 2” X 3” neon letters (also special characters and numbers) are sold individually and snap together, making it easy to create your own custom sign. You spell out any message you like, then simply connect the units to a single power supply. And when your drunken roommate stumbles over and smashes out your letter R, you can make a quick and easy replacement instead of having to buy a whole new sign.

New Light That Runs 12 Years Without Electricity!

Litroenergy, a new patent pending design, promises to offer a light source that runs 24/7 for 12 years without ever needing electricity or sun exposure. It also works on the microscopic scale, so it could potentially be added to paint or virtually any material. If that wasn't great enough, it's also very cheap to manufacture. An 8-1/2" by 11" sheet would run for 12 years and cost less than $1.

You can read more about Litroenergy here
